The Best Care Fund was started in 2013 when we received a very generous, anonymous donation with the request that the funds be used to help children and youth in care “have fun moments”. We created a subsidy as part of the fund for caregivers to apply when a child or youth in care had an interest, or a desire to do something, but the Ministry had denied funding for them to participate. We used the funds to pay for things such as a three day sailing camp around some of the islands, Special Olympics swimming lessons, horseback riding lessons, sports, prom dresses, and more to help children and youth in care “have fun moments”. The other part of the funds were used to host foster family and teen events across Vancouver Island.
After the funds ran out, The Best Care Fund ended. Many of our board members and staff have agreed that the fund was one of our best accomplishments, and have had a desire to bring it back.
We appreciate any support you can offer us towards our goal of bringing back The Best Care Fund.
